Eutelsat Affirms Own Independence And No NTDTV Prejudice

During the night of June 16th to 17th, 2008, Eutelsat’s W5 satellite at 70.5 degrees E experienced an anomaly which led to the loss of the use of one of the spacecraft’s two solar arrays. Following standard procedures, and after analysis of technical data, the decision was taken to switch-off four of the satellite’s 24 transponders to enable sufficient power to be maintained to operate the 20 remaining transponders in service.
