The U.S. Space Force’s Small Launch and Targets Division at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico, part of Space Systems Command’s (SSC) Assured Access to Space organization, awarded the first on-ramp of the Sounding Rocket Program (SRP)-4 Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) multiple award contract to Corvid Technologies LLC, Aerojet Rocketdyne Coleman Aerospace and Kratos Space & Missile Defense Systems Inc.
These awards expand the SRP-4 vendor pool and provide the Space Force with more options to deliver suborbital launch services, flight hardware, and technical/concept analyses in support of R&D programs.
SRP-4 has an $887 million contract ceiling with an ordering period through November 2027. Originally awarded to Northrop Grumman and Space Vector in November 2018, the SRP-4 acquisition strategy fosters competition and maintains responsiveness to various mission requirements by allowing for periodic on-ramps to ensure emerging, innovative launch providers can compete for future missions to support Department of Defense (DoD) needs.
“SRP-4 plans to award nine additional missions between the present and the end of the Period of Performance in November of 2027,“ said Lt. Col. Justin Beltz, Chief of the Small Launch and Targets Division. “Whether we’re launching satellites for the Space Force or suborbital R&D missions under SRP-4, SSC delivers the on-demand capabilities our joint warfighters need.”
