[SatNews] GMV has established a new subsidiary in Malaysia as part of its ongoing project of expansion abroad.
GMV’s steady build-up of business in the area, especially in the aerospace and transport sectors, and also for the firm's important clients, now call for a more stable, on-the-spot presence. The new subsidiary in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s biggest city, will enable it to improve its coverage and get to know the Malaysian market better as well as the market of the whole ASEAN region (Association of South East Asian Nations).
GMV trades in technologically advanced markets and is an international benchmark in various sectors ranging from space to intelligent transportation systems, security and ICTs; to cater for this worldwide business it has set up subsidiaries and offices in Germany, Colombia, France, the USA, India, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal and Romania.
GMV’s relationship with Malaysia dates back to 2007, when it successfully set up focusGEO, flight dynamics software for geostationary satellites, in the Measat control center in Cyberjaya near Kuala Lumpur. Later, in 2012, GMV signed a new contract with Measat for supplying the complete ground control system for the Measat 3b satellite, including a real-time command and telemetry processing system based on hifly®, the flight dynamics system in turn based on focusSuite, plus the ground-equipment control and monitoring system, magnet. Together with local partner ATSB, GMV has also been setting up, since 2008, a coastal DGPS network to give maritime navigation aid, a project won in an international tender. It was in 2010 and 2013, however, when GMV pulled off two crucial feats on the road to setting up the Malaysian subsidiary: Firstly, winning the contract for the fleet management system of the city of Putrajaya and then being awarded the contract for the integral transport management system of the Rapid Kuantan operator of the city of Kuantan. To these red-letter events in Malaysia must be added implementation in 2012 of the advanced fleet management and passenger information system of TransJakarta, operator of the urban BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system of the city of Yakarta, capital of Indonesia.
Malaysia now follows hard on the heels of the new subsidiary set up in India late last year, with that head office in the financial center of Saket in the south of New Delhi, capital of India.
GMV’s business activity in India started in 2005 as part of the company’s market analysis in that country. It was some years later, however, that its business there really took off. In 2010, it primed the contract for the development, deployment, operation and maintenance of Ahmedabad’s Intelligent Transportation Management System (ITMS). Throughout these years, GMV has also been carrying out an interesting project with Raytheon Company for upgrading the user receiver of the GAGAN program (Global Positioning Satellite-Aided Geosynchronous Augmented Navigation System) developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Airports Authority of India (AAI). GMV has also maintained a brisk activity in the ICT sector, where its clients now include some of India’s main public and private banks, and also in the Indian defense market. Finally, its railway electrification dimensioning software, SIMTREN, has been used for designing Delhi’s metro.
