Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) has revealed that Duna TV, a Hungarian public-service broadcaster, is set to start television and radio broadcasts on the THOR 5 satellite, located at one of Europe’s fastest growing hotspots – 1 degree West. Telenor Satellite Broadcasting has signed an initial six-month service contract for the satellite delivery of Duna TV’s television programmes, which are comprised of the HD and SD TV channels Duna TV and Duna II Autonomia as well as two public service radio stations.
Tests have already commenced on 1 degree West and services are expected to start regular transmissions on April 1, 2010. Duna TV’s decision to move to 1 degree West further strengthens the orbital location, which is already home to the two most important pan-regional DTH operators within Central and Eastern Europe: Digi TV, and later this year, UPC Direct.
