  • Gefen A/V Scaler Pro There are two new processors from Gefen — the AV Cinema Scaler Pro I and the AV Cinema Scaler Pro II — both enable multiple consumer audio/video devices to be directly connected to a digital cinema projector for on-screen viewing. With support for 1080p and 2k resolutions and HDCP compliance, both AV Cinema Scaler Pros are ideal solutions for theatres looking to expand revenue by displaying pre-show advertising or renting the venue for birthday parties, games, presentations, and high profile TV events that draw nationwide interest. Both units support audio and video inputs from a Blu-ray, DVD player, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, computer, STB and more. These include HDMI, DVI, VGA and component video formats with both digital and analog audio support. Video is output as scalable DVI with audio alongside in balanced analog DB-25. Both scalers provide an analog 7.1 DB-25 input and output, while the AV Cinema Scaler Pro II also provides a digital 7.1 DB-25 input for theatres working with the digital audio format. Key features include Dolby Pro Logic II processing for two channel analog and digital audio sources, aspect ratio control, audio delay for lip sync, audio isolation transformers, advanced mode scaling and black barring with up/down image scaling in hi-def resolutions at 2k or 1080p. Users access their control options through the on-screen display, the LCD display, the front panel selector or the RS-232 connection.

  • OmniBus Systems logo OmniBus Systems has added new Internet TV and streaming capabilities to iTX, its software-based master control and playout application. Due for launch at IBC2009, OmniBus iTX 1.3 provides all the capabilities Internet TV providers need to produce a highly crafted transmission stream, including video/audio transitions, logo insertions, voice-overs and two-dimensional DVE moves for squeeze-and-tease effects. It creates extra revenue opportunities by enabling the insertion of advertising based on schedule time, cue tones, GPIs, SCTE 104 or manual triggering. Format-independent and bit-rate-agnostic, iTX allows broadcasters to mix both media formats and resolutions in the same schedule. Compressed video files such as MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (H.264), DV25/50 and Windows Media® — as well as wrapped formats such as MXF and QuickTime® — are all supported in their native form and decoded by iTX during transmission. Broadcast HD, SD and lower bit rates can be mixed within a single schedule and are automatically up- or down-converted by iTX. Live sources can be scheduled, mixed and branded along with recorded content.
