CFE Telecomunicaciones “Internet for All” (CFE TEIT), in compliance with the National Development Plan 2019-2024 of the Presidency of the Republic, enlisted AXESS Networks to provide between 18 and 36 capacity packages making it possible to connect via satellite up to 700 additional 4G sites in hard-to-reach areas in Mexico.
These new nodes are added to the more than 650 nodes that the Shared Network (Red Compartida) and CFE TEIT already connect in the country through AXESS. AXESS is a leading company in the Satellite Cellular Backhaul market in Latin America, with more than 1,300 connected nodes and more than 10 Gbpsof capacity dedicated to this vertical. In Mexico, AXESS also provides service to more than 2,400 internet points within the CFE TEIT program.
The new 4G nodes will be connected throughout the year 2023 thanks to the high performance of Hispasat’s Amazonas 3, Amazonas 5, and Amazonas Nexus satellites and will have bandwidths of at least 20 Mbps download and 8 Mbps upload, with the possibility of growing to 60 Mbps and 16 Mbps. AXESS was assigned with the great challenge of deploying several locations and guaranteeing the right of access to information and communication technologies, regardless of geographic location. – Establishing itself as the leading company in the extension of cellular networks via satellite.
Extending the connectivity of the “Internet for All” program through satellite technology contributes to the purpose of promoting the digital rights of the most remote towns in the Mexican republic in an efficient and agile way and represents an implementation and logistical challenge that will be carried out successfully by AXESS as in the previously established contracts.
This deployment will allow CFE to reach more than one million services by 2025 aimed at boosting the development and digital economy of the 20 million Mexicans who are still outside the technological standard. To do this, CFE offers internet and mobile phone plans with easy access to 4G LTE services and affordable rates, with no fixed terms.
The “Internet for All” program has deployed 67,256 connectivity points, of which 14,181 correspond to satellite technology and include more than 50,000 public institutions and schools. This figure represents a high growth in coverage compared to previous years.
