Gilmour Space Technologies is pioneering new and innovative hybrid propulsion technologies that offers lower cost access to space. The venture-backed rocket company is developing new capabilities for launching small satellites to space.
KSAT will support Gilmour Space missions the company’s Launch- and Launch and Early Operations Phase (LEOP) services, providing highly resilient communication solutions and dedicated engineers for real time monitoring.
Gilmour Space’s innovative Eris orbital launch vehicles will deliver up to 1000 kg to LEO with a first launch expected later this year.

As part of a consortium with ESA, OHB Sweden and Thales Alenia Space, KSAT was recently contracted to provide a one-stop solution for all operational activities for the Arctic Weather Satellite program.
The Consortium is led by OHB Sweden who will build the Arctic Weather Satellite (AWS) prototype-flight model and has contracted Thales Alenia Space to provide the Ground Segment. KSAT will serve as a sub-contractor to Thales, providing the Consortium with a single interface to handle all of the Consortium’s routine operational needs.
AWS is designed by ESA as a NewSpace mission, which enables an agile workflow throughout the Consortium, ensuring that objectives are achieved efficiently, at low cost and with high-quality.
KSAT will provide the Consortium with a single point of contact for all activities related to mission operations through utilization of our unique experience and global network infrastructure. This will be handled by providing:
- Satellite Operations as-a-Service (O-a-a-S)
- Ground Station L- and S-band services
- Ground Station Infrastructure Services
- Data Processing Services through Consortium provided processor
- Data Dissemination Services
With this, KSAT is capable of operating the complete ground segment for the Arctic Weather Satellite Mission. KSAT’s newly formed, state-of-the-art, Satellite Operation Centre can provide both hands-on and automated systems for managing satellites from launch to decommissioning. It is closely integrated with the global ground network, ensuring seamless scheduling, tasking and ground station operation.

Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) is a leading provider of Ground Network Services and Earth Observation Services, connecting space to earth. KSAT owns and operates a Ground Station Network of both polar and mid-latitude stations. The four polar ground stations are uniquely located in Tromsø at 69°N, Svalbard Satellite Station (SvalSat) at 78°N Inuvik Station at 68°N and the Antarctic station (TrollSat) at 72°S. The network consist of more than 260 antennas located at 26 sites world-wide and handles 75 000+ passes per month.
