L-3 Electron Devices… Compact + Affordable (MPM)

[SatNews] L-3 Electron Devices has introduced its new Ka-/Q-Band Microwave Power Module (MPM), a combination switchable Ka-band linearizer/Q-Band high power amplifier for aerospace and defense industry communications terminal builders and system integrators. This powerful advance in MPM technology addresses the critical demand for affordable millimeter wave, compact form factor power amplifiers needed in support of new WGS, AEHF and other future hosted payloads.

The ultimate combination of size, weight and power, this latest offering further expands L-3’s extensive MPM product line for airborne, naval and ground applications. Featuring a single 2.4 mm coax (0 dBm) input and WR-24 waveguide output, the new Ka-/Q-Band MPM delivers greater than 100 watts of saturated CW power, from 29.5 to 31.0 GHz, at greater than 35 percent RF efficiency, and greater than 80 watts saturated power from 43.5 to 45.5 GHz.

Standard features also include 28 VDC input, full MIL-STD-461 compliance, RS-485 and TTL status/controls, a forward and reverse power coupler detector, and a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The unit measures 9.75 x 8.5 x 1.5 inches and weighs 7.3 pounds.
