BROOMFIELD, Colo. — June 24, 2026 — BAE Systems announced today that it has entered into an agreement to build high-resolution imaging satellite buses for Vantor, a premier provider of unified space-to-ground spatial intelligence.

Under the terms of the agreement, BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems will manufacture the spacecraft for the next-generation Vantor Vantage™ 20 cm-class imaging satellites. The satellites will be constructed utilizing BAE Systems’ Evolve™ spacecraft line and are destined for critical use within national defense and intelligence programs. In addition to vehicle fabrication, BAE Systems will spearhead full spacecraft integration and rigorous environmental testing for the program.
Leveraging an Exquisite Electro-Optical Legacy
The partnership builds upon a deep, highly successful legacy of collaboration between the two companies on “exquisite” electro-optical imaging systems. BAE Systems (primarily through legacy operations in Broomfield) and Vantor share a manufacturing heritage that spans several generations of legendary multi-satellite intelligence constellations, including the assembly of two Quickbird satellites and three WorldView™ spacecraft.
By leveraging the standardized Evolve™ line, the program avoids the high costs and protracted engineering timelines associated with bespoke, custom-designed satellite structures. The Vantage satellites are explicitly engineered to capture the industry’s most precise commercial imagery while incorporating cutting-edge cross-link and downlink technologies to simultaneously compress latency and maximize the daily area collection rate.
Powering the “Living Digital Twin” of Earth
The deployment comes amid an accelerating push by the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and global intelligence agencies to acquire more responsive, rapidly refreshable space-based tactical intelligence. Rather than waiting hours for a single satellite to make a orbital pass, modern military operators require dense, high-frequency constellations capable of tracking movements almost continuously.

For Vantor, the integration of these 20 cm-class systems dramatically sharpens the accuracy of their core product line—serving as the spatial backbone for a real-time, high-fidelity digital twin of the Earth used by Allied geospatial analysts.
Matt Jenkins, chief space systems officer at Vantor, emphasized that BAE Systems’ deeply ingrained manufacturing expertise makes them the logical choice for an exquisite imaging campaign of this magnitude:
