Winegard Co., a U.S. based manufacturer of rugged VSAT (very small aperture terminal) satellite communications systems, has been selected by Data Technology Solutions (DTS) to provide more than 200 customized portable VSAT units for DTS to integrate into their new U.S. Patent Pending SatCom Box™ for one of the largest oilfield services companies in the U.S.
The customized VSAT skid systems are being deployed coast-to-coast and in the Gulf of Mexico to provide oilfield service companies with secure, remote communications for their oil rigs and other operations. Winegard’s VSAT systems provide a direct link between headquarters and oilfield operations, without relying on terrestrial services for data, voice and video communications.
Under the terms of the multi-year contract, Winegard will supply its rugged Small Footprint VSAT Antennas for DTS to integrate the controller and antenna mount into its patent pending SatCom Box. The VSAT 2-way antenna stores compactly inside the custom fabricated skid for ease of transportation. DTS customizes every SatCom Box to meet specific customer needs based on their application.
