Based on a versatile and compact OEM modulator called MNG and a Diversity 4 receiver called RNG, the modem offers a unique set of innovative features for insuring high flexibility and best-of-class performance in the field:
- Dual waveform operation (single carrier/DVB-S2 standard or proprietary multicarrier/RUBY)
- Agile RF output from 1.95 to 3.6 GHz
- Dual ASI and Ethernet inputs
- 8MHz and 16 MHz channel bandwidths, for maximising the useful bit-rate for the RUBY modes (up to 45 Mbps) in urban and rural situations
- More than 80 Mbps in the DVB-S2 modes for LOS (line-of-sight) transmission

…offer extended signal delivery features such as Internet Protocol (IP) output and descrambling functions, in addition to its established multi-stream delivery capabilities. This debut will increase Syper‘s market footprint, which is already established for signal distribution via satellite for large DTT networks. The new version, already available, provides the capability to deliver multi-stream content over up to five ASI outputs and/or one Ethernet output. It also incorporates a descrambler function and includes a new front panel for an easy user-interface. This market launch at IBC 2012 follows TeamCast’s strategy to provide promptly innovative technology solutions required for the satellite market, and especially for the efficient distribution of DTT signals which can take advantage of the native multi-stream feature of Syper.
Also released is their new version of its satellite modulator—Vyper—exhibiting some important and innovative new features.
Vyper is able either to reduce the necessary bandwidth on a transponder and/or to increase the net payload, for demanding applications in the marketplace such as programme contribution over satellite. The immediate benefit is thus either a reduction of the cost or an increase in the capacity of the link. While remaining strictly compliant with DVB-S2, the new release offers new low band roll-off values (5-, 1-0, 15 percent) and extends the symbol rate up to 68MBaud at no extra cost. It is now possible to transmit up to 170Mbit/s over existing satellite transponders, still with the use of standard market satellite receivers. This achievement is made possible because Vyper uses novel programmable technology, which allows further evolution and enhancement, in a flexible way, for the direct benefit of TeamCast’s customers. The new Vyper modulator now offers:
- An easy to operate front panel display
- Symbol rate up to 68MBaud
- Support for DVB-S/-S2/DSNG/ standards with QPSK – 8PSK – 16APSK – 32APSK
- Extended roll-off range: 5 percent – 10 percent – 15 percent – 20 percent – 25 percent – 35 percent
- Extended output level range: from +5dBm down to -30dBm
