[SatNews] About 85 Lockheed Martin employees, family and friends volunteered to partner with United Service Organization (USO) last week to stuff more than 4,700 care packages at Fort Belvoir in Virginia for deployed troops throughout the United States and overseas.
“Whether they are working side by side with our customers in forward operating bases around the world or here in the U.S., Lockheed Martin employees have deep admiration and respect for our military servicemen and women,” said Carolyn Nelson, the corporation’s acting director of Global Community Outreach. “USO care packages are reminders from home to lift their spirits and show our support.” Since the Lockheed Martin Employees Care program began in 2004, the Corporation and its employees have donated more than $4.5 million. Our employees have also assembled care packages at “stuffing parties” around the country. To date, employees and family members have stuffed approximately 300,000 packages. The USO is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services to our men and women in uniform.
