GVF A Bulging Calendar Of Fourth Quarter Events

October 3, 2011

[SatNews] No sooner are they wrapping up their third quarter events, then ramping up begins for the fourth…

The GVF, the Global, Non-profit trade association representing the interests of the satellite communications industry, has announced its 4th Quarter Strategic Calendar in Major Regions of the World. With events in Europe, the Middle East, North America, Asia and Africa, GVF’s 4th Quarter Strategic Calendar covers most of the world’s regions.

As the 4th Quarter approaches, GVF is completing the remainder of the third Quarter after participating in a number of successful activities in its efforts to continue supporting its members and their initiatives through meetings with the UN and WGET, and attending a variety of events: APSCC, VSAT 2011, IBC and Satellite Business Week.

Following the VSAT 2011 Conference, GVF held its second Maritime Satcom Forum meeting. The number of attendees validated its importance. Also included in the day’s activities,  GVF held its Board of Elections. GVF worked to further promote the industry’s use of Ka-Band, through its participation in the Ka-Band Roundtable at Satellite Business Week.

At IBC, GVF partnered with sIRG (satellite Interference Reduction Group) to hold a one day Interference Mitigation Summit dedicated to finding solutions for interference related issues.  Major gains were achieved on each facet of the interference mitigation initiative, including Eutelsat’s announcement that they will begin requiring all uplinks in the 2012 Olympics to have Carrier ID capability.

Europe — Major Satellite Industry Opportunity at Europe’s Emergency Management Expo & Conference, 11-13 October, Munich.

On October 11th , leading satellite industry providers of emergency management/disaster response communications equipment and services have the opportunity to contribute to a GVF-led Workshop, entitled ‘The Role of Communications in Disaster Preparedness & Response: A Dialogue with Industry’.
