Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV)has announced plans to further extend its current generation network voice and mobile data services through December 31, 2012, and will offer these services on its nexgen hybrid satellite-terrestrial communications network slated for launch in 2010. During the deployment of MSV’s nexgen services, customers will not need new hardware additions or upgrades to continue operating MSV’s current communications ground segment (CGS) and mobile data system (MDS) network terminals. MSV is building a specially-designed network interface that will enable existing satellite communications hubs and customer terminals to operate on its new satellite network during this service extension period. The extension of current generation services provides a longer period for customers to transition to MSV’s next generation hybrid satellite terrestrial services. In parallel with the deployment of MSV’s next generation network the company will work with its network of service providers, distributors and customers to discuss service options and facilitate transition to the company’s new services, including those based on MSV’s patented ATC (Ancillary Terrestrial Component) technology.—Reston, Virginia
