Aruba Networks, Inc. [NASDAQ: ARUN) has obtained the top ranking in innovation in ABI Research’s new report titled “Voice Over Wi-Fi Ecosystems Vendor Matrix.” The Vendor Matrix is an analytical tool developed by ABI Research to provide a clear understanding of vendors’ positions in specific markets with respect to innovation and implementation, in this case for the voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) market. The innovation ranking is based on how a technology addresses Generic Photo for VoWiFi
roaming, call management, endpoint security, VoWi-Fi reporting, intrusion detection and protection, troubleshooting, fixed-mobile convergence schemes, fast handoffs, load balancing, battery life, quality of service, and architecture. The implementation ranking is based on partnerships with resellers and technology providers. Aruba was ranked first in innovation and second overall in a field of twelve suppliers. Aruba’s user-centric networks securely deliver the enterprise network to users by integrating adaptive wireless LANs, identity-based security, remote access, and fixed mobile convergence solutions into a cohesive, high-performance system. Adaptive wireless LANs deliver follow-me connectivity to roaming users, support standard Wi-Fi clients such as Apple Macintosh and Intel Centrino and deliver toll-quality WPA2 encrypted voice and streaming video. ETI Software + Motorola
Enhanced Telecommunications, dba ETI Software Solutions, Inc. (ETI), is supporting Motorola’s IP Exchange (MIPX) Gateway. ETI’s Triad extends a network’s life by supporting MIPX, which provides integration to IPTV, HDTV and other emerging technologies over the existing VDSL framework. Triad manages and provisions equipment as well as services for a variety of video, voice and data technologies. By staying current with these technologies, Triad future-proofs back office billing, order entry and service order systems. Using Triad, service providers can simultaneously activate video services over the existing Next Level systems, as well as the MIPX Gateways and the selected IPTV technology provider. This reduces the number of touch-points for provisioning both systems. It also eliminates confusion at a customer services representative (CSR) level. More importantly, Triad supports a wide variety of access vendors offering DSL and FTTH solutions, further eliminating additional provisioning touch points as the system grows—Atlanta, Georgia

Maspro + Agilent Technologies logos
Maspro is a provider of TV-receiving equipment in Japan, providing such goodies as antennas, satellite receivers and broadcasting repeating devices, which often use frequencies > 10GHz. That company has now selected Agilent Technologies and their Genesys and Momentum GX software to develop TV receivers and satbroadcasting equipment. To reduce spins in their design, process, Maspro added circuit and electromagnetic sims to the design flow to improve efficiency. They evaluated a number of EDA tools on the market. The final choice was the Agilent offerings. The reason for the selection, according to Maspro engineers, was that Genesys provided the highest return on investment and the best accuracy. They also preferred Genesys as it is available in Japanese and several other languages—Santa Clara, California

The Bigger Picture + SF Opera logos
The world-wide distribution of six operas per year, starting in March of 2008, is the result of an agreement between the San Francisco Opera and The Bigger Picture. This is the first time an opera company will use the Hollywood feature film quality digital cinema format. Back in May of this year, the San Francisco Opera transformed the historic War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco into a state-of-the-art production facility with the installation of the Koret-Taube Media Suite. This was the first, permanent, hi-def, broadcast-standard video production facility installed within any American opera house. This affords the company the capability generate a hi-def, multi-camera feed of the stage for everything from digital cinema presentations, free outdoor simulcasts, and a new program entitled Opera vision. The Bigger Picture will distribute operas through its network of digital, cinema-equipped theater partners in an all digital 2K release with 5.1 surround sound and possessing all of the standards as set by the Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI). Plus, a landmark revenue sharing agreement with the international Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) and the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) was completed. The initial Digital Cinema Program will feature four showings each of Puccini’s La Rondine; Saint-Saëns’s Samson and Delilah; Mozart’s The Magic Flute; Mozart’s Don Giovanni; Appomattox, a new opera by Philip Glass and Christopher Hampton which premiered in October; and Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
