If you thought Apple‘s current share price of $197.00+ is something to behold, hang on, ’cause other analysts such as Ben Reitzes of UBS is prognosticating another banner year for the company in the year head. He’s raising his stock price target from $220 to $235... he also feels there will be a Mac ultra portable computer released and believes MacWorld may be a great venue for this new appliance to be greeted by throngs… plus, don’t think we’ve seen the last of the price reductions for Apple’s iPhone… he believes there may well be another lower priced model available during either Q1 or Q2 of next year… and Apple is believed already to be working on the movie rental biz, with a PPV (pay per view) system to be intro’d into Apple’s iTunes online store with a pricing in the range of from $3 to $4 per rental. Additionally, Ben believes Mac sales will grown another 40 percent and iPod sales an additional 17 percent with a 32.5 percent revenue increase to $9.42 billion. Not too shabby…

You’ll read about another settlement later in the digiGO! news… this particular settlement concerns the EchoStar Technologies Corp. lawsuit versus CalAmp Corp., wherein the former accused the later of product failure. Apparently there was premature deterioration of laminate materials on the CalAmp PCBs (printed circuit boards)… this failure affected approximately one-half of the products sent to EchoStar. Early this year, EchoStar began returning product to CalAmp and they, in return, put all orders on hold. The settlement finds CalAmp giving the satTV firm one million of its shares plus a three-year warrant to purchase an additional 350k shares at $3.72 per share, as well as a promissory note for $5 million. EchoStar has agreed to pay $1.3m in outstanding ARs due CalAmp, and CalAmp has cancelled the remaining $1m of receivables and they will also rework the equipment over the next 15 months. These settlement details were disclosed in a CalAmp filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

3rd Largest C&S Market Will Increase 2x From The Economic Times of India comes information that Ernest & Young—Assocham is going to soon release a report on the digitization of the Indian media and entertainment industry. Twice the rate of the country’s GDP is the estimation, over the next few years. This will be driven by regional player emergence, new technology and the actual digitization of the product itself. India happens to be the third largest cable and satellite market in the world. In example, during 2006, digital music sales overtook traditional music format sales for the first time, due mostly to mobile phone platforms and their uses of ring tones and music clips. Plus, additional revenue streams such as video on demand (VoD) continue to emerge. merging. Revenues from home entertainment, DVD and VCD viewing, digital pay television platforms and broadcasting rights are likely contribute up to 45 percent of overall total revenues of films. In the television space, 29 percent of an estimated 100 million pay television households are expected to migrate to digital platforms by 2010. One additional project in the study finds the split between ad spends on TV and print as well as other conventional and digital media will become even more fragmented, with broadcasters increasing niche content.

A publishing platform named Knol is being tested by Google, according to that company’s Vice President of Engineering. Yep, it’s somewhat similar to both Mahalo and Wikipedia and authors can create their own topics. Then, linkage to web-based articles and content is accessible via it’s own set of tools… and the author will obtain the credit for writing the material. Don’t expect other authors to be able to edit those pages, though, as they can on Wikipedia. Certainly, any chances could be submitted to the content originator, but it’ll be up to the original composer to use such suggestions. Plus, authors could make some money on their pages, as Knol will support author monetization of their creations. No suggested, exact or otherwise hinted-at release date has been made public.
