Comtech Xicom Technology Presents Their New GaN SSPAs and TWTAs at NAB 2018

Comtech Xicom Technology has just announced a library of free downloadable white papers that describe innovations from the firm's engineering team.

New GaN SSPA and BUCs
According to the company, their XTSLIN-200K-B1 is the smallest, lightest and most efficient SSPA in the industry at this power level. This is ideal for SNG applications and delivers 200 Watts of linear power in a rugged 48 lb. outdoor package.

Also new is the company's 2kW Outdoor Soft Fail Redundancy Systems. These are antenna mounted, continuous power systems that offer minimal transmission line loss with soft-fail hitless redundancy. All TWTAs contribute to the system power and efficiency. The oOutput power only declines 2.5 dB in off-line state. Auto recovery can drive remaining amplifiers back to the full power point.

The firm's new 1250W DBS Amplifier Model XTD-1250DBSHE is a high efficiency 1250 Watt amplifier in the same package as the traditional 750 Watt amplifier. It provides 525 Watts of linear power in a compact, ruggedized package designed for high reliability outdoor applications.

The company's Ka/Q/V-Band Leadership has developed a new 250W Q/V-Band amplifier for HTS gateway service. The amplifier delivers linear power across the entire 4.2 GHz of spectrum from 47.2 to 51.4 GHz. Power combining and redundancy architectures are also available.

The firm's Liquid Cooling Gateway and teleport customers are electing liquid cooling to ease maintenance and save air conditioning expenses. Liquid cooling allows the user to easily remove heat from the amplifiers and dissipate it in a more desirable location and enables amplifiers to be mounted near the feed without worry about air flow or maintenance.
