ORLANDO, FLORIDA – On Monday, March 9, 2026, BAE Systems OneArc (OneArc™) announced that the Danish Army has selected its software suite as the foundation for Denmark’s next-generation enterprise virtual training environment.
The seven-year agreement modernizes the Danish Army’s simulation ecosystem, moving away from legacy systems to a unified, scalable synthetic architecture.

The contract includes the delivery of VBS4, VBS Builder Edition, Blue IG®, and TerraTools® Platinum, along with comprehensive software maintenance and on-site training services.
Context: Consolidation and Interoperability
This award marks a significant milestone for OneArc, a business unit launched in December 2025 to consolidate BAE Systems’ strategic acquisitions of Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), TerraSim, and Pitch Technologies.
The upgrade aligns with the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) 2030 Vision, which seeks to enhance military interoperability between Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway. By adopting the OneArc suite—already in use by more than 60 NATO and allied nations—Denmark ensures that its virtual training assets are fully compatible with regional partners for large-scale, multi-domain mission rehearsals.
Technical Specs: The OneArc Ecosystem
The transition from the older VBS3 platform to the VBS4-based OneArc ecosystem introduces several critical technological leaps:
- VBS4: A “whole-earth” virtual desktop platform that allows for rapid scenario creation and multi-domain integration (Air, Land, Maritime, Cyber).
- VBS Blue IG®: A high-performance 3D global renderer that provides high-fidelity visuals from space down to individual blades of grass, supporting VR, AR, and full-motion simulators.
- TerraTools® Platinum: Industry-standard terrain generation software used to rapidly convert real-world geospatial data into correlated, high-fidelity virtual environments.
- Backward Compatibility: OneArc has engineered the platform to maintain full compatibility with years of legacy simulation development previously conducted by the Danish Army.
Leadership Perspective
Rahul C. Thakkar, President of OneArc, emphasized that the selection represents a move toward “future-ready” synthetic training.
“Upgrading to VBS4 delivers the realism, flexibility, and multi-domain integration required for modern readiness,” Thakkar stated. “We are honored to continue supporting Denmark’s vision for a more interconnected, scalable, and effective virtual training ecosystem.”
Colonel Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen, Head of the Land Division at the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO), noted that the virtual environment serves as a critical force multiplier. “There is no substitute for training in the real world. But by first rehearsing many scenarios virtually, we can save time and resources and get even more out of the physical exercises.”
