BOCA RATON, FLORIDA – Terran Orbital Corporation, a global leader in satellite-based solutions and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, announced today, March 8, 2026, the appointment of Kwon Park as Senior Director of Manufacturing Operations. Park will oversee the company’s vertically integrated production facilities as Terran Orbital ramps up manufacturing to meet the high-volume requirements of the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA).

Park brings over 15 years of aerospace experience to the role, most recently serving as Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Momentus. His background also includes significant tenure at Northrop Grumman, where he managed complex satellite integration and test programs.
Context: Scaling for Proliferated LEO
The appointment comes at a critical juncture for Terran Orbital. Since its acquisition by Lockheed Martin in late 2024, the company has transitioned from a merchant satellite bus provider to a high-capacity production hub for Lockheed’s prime defense contracts.
Terran Orbital is currently tasked with the assembly and integration of 42 satellites for the SDA’s Tranche 2 Transport Layer (T2TL). This requires a transition from “bespoke” satellite building to a high-rate production model—often referred to as the “automotive” approach to space—leveraging the company’s 350,000-square-foot facility in Irvine, California.
Executive Perspective
In a statement regarding the appointment, leadership emphasized Park’s expertise in streamlining complex aerospace workflows.
“Kwon Park’s deep understanding of orbital logistics and mission-critical manufacturing is essential as we scale our operations to meet the unprecedented demand for smallsat constellations. His leadership will be pivotal in ensuring we maintain the highest reliability standards while meeting aggressive delivery schedules for our national security partners.”
Manufacturing Outlook: 2026-2027
With the SDA facing recent scaling challenges across the industry, Terran Orbital’s ability to hit production milestones is under heavy scrutiny. Park’s immediate mandate will include:
- Workflow Automation: Increasing the use of robotics in the assembly of the Ambassador and Renegade satellite buses.
- Supply Chain De-risking: Standardizing component procurement to avoid the bottlenecks that have recently plagued Tranche 1 deployments.
- Workforce Expansion: Integrating additional technical staff at the Irvine “Factory of the Future” to support a 24/7 production cycle.
