Inmarsat and Paradigm have announced that the latter’s HORNET 100GX terminal has received full type approval for use over Inmarsat’s Global Xpress (GX) network for commercial and military Ka-band.
In U.S. government service since July of 2014, GX has established itself as a gold standard for reliable communications across land, sea and air domains for assured mobile connectivity.
The HORNET 100GX flyaway terminal is a compact-sized, mobile, multi-band solution supplied with the Paradigm Interface Module (PIM), designed to simplify operation, reduce operating costs and provide a central unit for the integration and operation of satellite terminal hardware. Combining both optimal performance and functionality, the lightweight modular satellite terminal provides access to the most advanced IP satellite services on the high-throughput GX network.
The terminal supports both GX and military Ka-band frequency bands with a single configuration, making it interoperable with MILSATCOM systems and GX without any hardware changes.
The HORNET 100GX is a lightweight, rugged and quick to deploy and stow terminal that does not require tools or special training, and non-skilled users can point this PIM-powered terminal in seconds. The terminal’s interchangeable design is simple and robust for fast operation in demanding environments. The segmented carbon-fiber antenna provides maximum efficiency and optimum radiation characteristics for improved data throughput and availability.
