Avanti Communications has unveiled a proprietary Android application to assist with Ka-band satellite field installations. ‘Avanti Mobile Assist’ optimizes the installation process by supporting job allocation, antenna line-up, initiation of service and reporting for engineers.
Suitable for use on any Android smartphone or tablet, the app allows all stages of a standard Hughes installation to be carried out. It cuts installation equipment costs by up to 75 percent and reduces installation time by up to 20 percent, ensuring the end user is online quickly.
The app eliminates the need for tools including: a horizon satellite meter, a laptop, an external GPS unit, a compass/inclinometer or a camera. The service allows engineers to better perform install job management; satellite model configuration and alignment; and service commissioning, testing and reporting.
