[SatNews] At IBC 2013 in Amsterdam, Rohde & Schwarz will present its latest solutions for studio and post production, multiplex centers, network operators and consumer electronics equipment manufacturers. The recently introduced R&S AVHE100 headend solution is now even more powerful. The headend can now handle multiple multiplexes on a single R&S AVS100 processing platform. And just one device is needed to generate multiple physical layer pipes (PLPs) for the DVB-T2 standard. For network operators, Rohde & Schwarz offers the R&S AVG050 gateway with integrated satellite receiver. The extremely compact gateway includes a DVB-S/DVB-S2 demodulator that can receive and decrypt incoming transport streams from a satellite.
The Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary DVS GmbH will be presenting numerous product innovations for studio broadcasting and post production. The support of codecs such as Sony XAVC in its VENICE and CLIPSTER systems demonstrates how quickly DVS can adapt to new standards. 4K is becoming increasingly important in broadcasting, and so DVS has implemented this resolution in its VENICE media production hub, enabling broadcasters to play out 4K content with maximum production quality. New VENICE features help TV studios to manage their broadcasting processes more efficiently and cost-effectively. DVS has added an innovative media asset management solution to its studio product line. Tailored specifically to the needs of editors, this solution offers the utmost in flexibility and modularity.
The CLIPSTER DI workstation supports mezzanine files like AS-02 and IMF and can be used to elegantly create interoperable master packages (IMP) in application layer 2, extended up to 4K. With CLIPSTER®, DVS made it possible to process 4K data in realtime as far back as 2007. The company is also a leader in the area of frame rates. The IMF delivery tool provides a multilingual versioning solution by making it very easy to create versions for multilingual packages.
Version 4 of the DVS SpycerBox storage solution delivers even better performance and integrates the latest storage technologies. The functional range of the web-based SAN Remo GUI has been expanded considerably, further underscoring the DVS philosophy of placing a premium on user friendliness.
The recently launched R&S BTC broadcast test center is the T&M highlight. This platform provides developers of consumer electronics equipment with a complete testing environment for nearly all audio, video and multimedia applications ? in a single instrument. Manufacturers of professional satellite equipment, network operators, rental companies, regulatory authorities and the A&D industry will also benefit from this scalable test solution. The RF reference signal generator generates signals for all global international TV and radio standards and includes the latest transmission simulations. It is the first to perform internal audio/video analysis on DUTs automatically and in realtime, including using test suites based on test standards such as the DTG D-Book. The modular design provides a high level of scalability, allowing the R&S BTC to be easily adapted to meet any customer requirement.
