Bridge Technologies. @ IBC2013 With… (Event—Technology Showcase)

July 10, 2013

[SatNews] Bridge Technologies’ Chairman, Simen K. Frostad, is definitely upbeat about the company’s attendance at this event. “This IBC is by far the biggest and busiest ever for us. We’re introducing Objective QoE, an entirely new paradigm that sets the standard for sophisticated QoE monitoring using only criteria that are relevant to broadcast and digital media delivery. We’ve got the first complete OTT solution with MPEG-DASH support, a brilliant new PocketProbe app for Android, an intelligent redundancy switching solution for satellite uplinks, phenomenal new recording functionality on the probes…. and the industry’s first DVB-C2 solution! There’s more still—too much to tell you about here. Come to the booth and see it all!”

The new products being shown at IBC 2013 at Stand 1.A30 include…

  • Bridge Technologies will launch an entirely new QoE (Quality of Experience) solution, enabling operators of Bridge systems to bring the industry’s most sophisticated QoS capability together with state of the art QoE monitoring – all running on the same Bridgetech infrastructure, and with support for QoE monitoring of regionally-inserted material. Full details of this high performance new solution will be revealed at IBC
  • Bridge Technologies’ 2nd generation OTT Engine makes MPEG-DASH support a core part of of the user’s OTT monitoring capability, is compatible with all Bridge Technologies 1G and 10G probes, and part of the iOS and Android PocketProbe mobile monitoring apps. To ensure the widest possible compatibility with future, current and legacy OTT operations, Bridge Technologies’ new OTT Engine extends its HLS, Smoothstream and MPEG-DASH capability by adding support for RTMP and subtitle tracks
  • The first of a new line of products, the company’s VB273 module is designed for Bridge Technologies’ new carrier-grade intelligent redundancy switching solution for satellite uplinks. The VB273 module works with a VB272 and VB120 in a redundant chassis to monitor two signals from dual production chains and switch to the backup chain if the main chain fails. A sophisticated automatic decision engine uses Bridge’s advanced ETR290 analysis functionality and compares error condition results against user defined rules. Far outstripping the simple ETR alarm analyzers and black box switchers broadcasters have used until now, the Bridge VB273 system’s rich feature set and powerful analysis and standalone decision capabilities make it the most comprehensive and versatile solution available to date
  • Joining its iOS stablemate, the new PocketProbe for Android delivers incredible OTT monitoring and analysis capability right to the engineer’s pocket. Supporting HLS, Smoothstream, RTMP and MPEG-DASH standards, with powerful graphics overlay displays, the PocketProbe series offers full remote analysis capability for any OTT service in operation now and into the future
  • Version 5.0 System software with new capabilities for onboard recording, build-to-order internal probe storage, and much more—Version 5.0 of the system software for Bridge Technologies systems introduces support for Bridge’s build-to-order probe hardware with internal 16, 32 or 64 GB flash memory and onboard recording of transport streams or PCAP files. PCAP file recording allows the storage of IP packet information for later analysis via a web app and the introduction of this feature enables the ultimate in packet inspection and analysis at any point in the network equipped with Bridge Technologies probes. Version 5.0 also introduces many more new features—full details to be revealed at IBC
  • Bridge Technologies’ award-winning VB220 probe is now also available as the VB220-ATV in a form factor specially tailored to fit AppearTV-based infrastructures. The VB220-ATV is identical in functionality and features, replicating all of the original’s performance, but in a size readily accommodated by AppearTV users
  • Bridge Technologies will show another industry first with the VB266 DVB-C2 RF Interface card. State of the art coding and modulation techniques in the new DVB-C2 allows cable operators to achieve greater than 30 percent higher spectrum efficiency under the same conditions, with downstream channel capacity gains greater than 60 percent for optimized HFC networks. The VB266 DVB-C2 solution from Bridge means that for the first time cable operators have access to a future-ready monitoring capability as they begin to roll out DVB-C2 upgrades to their networks
  • Bridge Technologies’ microAnalytics System allows operators to remotely access real-time data from set top boxes, connected TVs, iPads, iPhones and other mobile devices, making accurate and comprehensive end-to-end multiservice/OTT and home network monitoring a reality. Now the microAnalytics System gives OTT operators continuous real-time access to data from all the mobile and fixed viewing devices used by the subscriber, and can identify service-affecting problems arising at the ingress point of the service, or in the interactions within the home network
