…communication services through Ka-band, whose capacity has already been completely sold, has initiated commercial operation. This satellite, launched into space on February 7th, cost US$350 million to build. Amazonas 3 has the capacity to transmit via bands C (33 transponders), Ku- (19 transponders) and Ka- (9 transponders), which will be used to access high-speed Internet services and for interactive services and multimedia applications.

By the end of this year, the Amazonas 4 satellite, will be ready for launch. This satellite will also address the Latin American market and will be slotted at 61 degrees West and will pack 24 Ku-band transponders.
