Broadpeak… announced that Technicolor has joined the brand new Broadpeak Open Alliance (BOA), an organization dedicated to accelerating the rollout of OTT video services. By integrating Broadpeak nanoCDN technology in its home gateways, Technicolor will contribute to the BOA’s goal of creating an open environment for OTT video delivery that fosters interoperability between third-party technology providers.
By enabling a best-of-breed approach to content delivery, the BOA allows content operators to select the best technology available for each component of the delivery chain, thereby optimizing the deployment of OTT services. Initially, the alliance will focus on creating interoperability between disparate home network components, such as Broadpeak’s nanoCDN technology with Technicolor’s broadband gateways’ open software. Broadpeak nanoCDN is a revolutionary CDN technology that leverages subscribers’ home networks to reduce an operator’s infrastructure investment dramatically, enabling them to deliver high-quality video services to end users more efficiently.

BTS (Broadcast Technology Solutions) broadcast technology solutions has reached a new record by completing the 555th OB van in its factory at Weiterstadt, Germany since the company has restarted production in 1951 after World War II. BTS has served the global broadcast market with state-of-the-art technology solutions using their own developments and the technical skills.
The OB van # 555 which is on display at IBC, stand OE 120, is a very special construction: The truck for a broadcaster from the Middle East has to function in enormous heat and heavy dust, has to provide its service reliably anytime and allow productive working conditions for the staff. Challenges and technical sophistication like a cold-air-lock at the entrance and three movable air conditioners enable perfect performance.

Chyron… released ChyronIP, a real-time HD/SD 2D and 3D character and graphics generator that brings the company’s full-motion, data-driven 3D graphics to NewTek TriCaster live production systems for the first time. Loaded with all of the features and functions offered by Chyron’s Lyric™ PRO software, ChyronIP delivers key and fill signals via the TriCaster network interface, which gives producers two full HD or SD live full-motion channels of Chyron graphics without tying up any of the TriCaster’s video inputs.
Ideal for sports, news, entertainment, and other live productions, ChyronIP enables TriCaster users to employ the same type of high-impact graphics typical of premier sports and entertainment broadcasts. Because graphics data is delivered via a network connection, broadcasters can take advantage of ChyronIP for TriCaster without giving up any of the needed camera inputs that also are critical to live production. ChyronIP for TriCaster is a self-contained plug and play system in a compact lightweight chassis. Both Chyron and NewTek will demonstrate ChyronIP for TriCaster at their respective stands.

Entropic Communications, Inc…. announces the deployment of its set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) and demodulator technology in three EchoStar models, which are currently being deployed at Bell Canada, Dish Mexico and Telus.
Entropic’s STB SoC and demodulator technology, EchoStar offers fully-functional high definition (HD) satellite STBs, which are personal video recorder (PVR)-ready via external hard drives. The devices also support over-the-top (OTT) and interactive applications via an Internet connection.
Entropic’s SoC uses an integrated ARM® application CPU to power advanced application processing, with a multi-stream transport processor to support PVR functionality. It also leverages flexible, multi-format video and audio decoders and a memory controller to provide ample memory capacity for both HD picture decoding and advanced system performance. The EchoStar STBs also use Entropic’s advanced, low-power turbo-coding demodulator, which provides increased satellite system throughput by up to 35 percent utilizing existing bandwidth.
