NETIA has announced that Interra Systems, Inc. is providing its Baton™ content readiness offering for quality control (QC) as part of NETIA’s content management solution (CMS) for Orange, the key brand of leading telecommunications operator France Telecom. NETIA’s CMS for Orange involves ingest of content from diverse sources, cataloging of content for access by various divisions, as well as efficient content management. The NETIA CMS for Orange ingests content from SD and HD sources and once ingested, the content is transformed with the addition of metadata and other information for faster access. The NETIA CMS prepares the content for delivery to multiple platforms including computers, mobile phones, and TV sets, by ensuring a comprehensive QC or automated content verification. This QC requirement in NETIA CMS is fulfilled by Interra’s Baton. Interra’s Baton is an industry-leading QC software solution distributed by Videomenthe in France. The deployment of Baton in NETIA CMS for Orange required a close collaboration across NETIA, Videomenthe, and Interra Systems. The NETIA CMS organizes media management processes including the QC processes driven by Interra’s Baton.
Oregan Networks has been selected by MediaCorp, Singapore’s leading media company, as a key enabler of its up-coming Over-the-Top (OTT) interactive TV service on STBs. Oregan Media Browser provides the media player and run-time environment for the User Interface applications, which allow users to interact with live and on-demand content via on-screen graphical overlays. Oregan Media Browser incorporates adaptive bitrate streaming of high definition video assets – a key ingredient that allows for dynamic adjustment of stream quality to match real network conditions. The STB platform is remotely upgradeable, to allow MediaCorp to future-proof its service and application offerings. The new service is designed to take advantage of the country’s highly developed broadband infrastructure and the upcoming next generation broadband network for delivery of its vast library of content to Singaporeans. In addition to live TV, ‘catch-up’ services and Video-on-Demand (VoD), MediaCorp plans to incorporate both standalone and contextual browser-based applications, such as voting, social networking, and related content.

Volicon’s Observer® Enterprise digital video monitoring and logging system is becoming a central element within the world’s largest 24×7 sports broadcaster and other leading U.S. sports broadcast networks. Significant wins in the past year have resulted in Observer installations that provide continuous monitoring and recording of some of the country’s best-known sports channels, which are using the Volicon system to benefit all areas of their operations. The Volicon Observer family of products captures, stores, and indexes broadcast content from multiple channels and a variety of inputs, offering users simultaneous 24×7 Web access to video from their desktop computers. The Volicon system also facilitates audio/visual content identification, live and archived content detection, matched clip export, and alerting via SNMP, SMS, and email. At leading sports networks, such as Comcast SportsNet New England (CSNNE), the sales, traffic, programming, production, and engineering departments all rely on the Observer platform to resolve any quality and content issues such as discrepancies with airing of commercials or other promos. Users at their desktops simply log on via a web browser interface, find and validate the appropriate content, and create and send clips to other internal users or customers as proof of delivery. As the Observer system supports text-based Boolean search queries through recorded closed captions, those networks that caption all of the programming they produce can quickly locate even promo items that are simple reads during a broadcast. Integration with industry-standard as-run logs supports searches based on program, as well as time. The “scrub” viewing function gives users quick mouse or keyboard control to move forward or back in the video stream to quickly identify exactly what happened. Sports broadcast networks also employ the Observer system to support long-term archiving of the content aired on their channels.
