The se@COMM system and Satlink Inmarsat FB250 FleetBroadband terminal were supplied and installed by Telaurus, a Globecomm company, on the 2008-built combination carrier BBC Jade in March 2011, two years after Briese became the first company in Europe to fit FleetBroadband FB150 on its coastal vessel Saxum. The migration to FleetBroadband using the se@COMM system involved the replacement of Briese’s legacy communications and email messaging system, reflecting greater volumes of critical data traffic and the need for transparency in managing the cost of ship-shore messaging. Globecomm Maritime’s flagship product, se@COMM, allows users to communicate via email, fax, telex and SMS, as well as permitting controlled web browsing. se@COMM features real-time email delivery capabilities and unique pre-pricing by the kilobit, enabling users to control their communication spends. se@COMM provides a high level of flexibility to address the diverse needs of ship owners and ship management companies, offering ships the benefits of shore-based email systems, while achieving an average 50 percent reduction on normally incurred costs. se@COMM is enabled to operate with the latest generation of communications satellites offering background Internet Protocol-enabled broadband services. Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM) is also gearing up its wireless hosted platform for migration to 4G/ LTE. Globecomm’s multi-technology, flexible wireless platform will enable 2G and 3G operators to cost-effectively migrate to 4G/LTE. This new upgraded platform will encompass the migration of both CDMA/EVDO and GSM/UMTS to LTE. Use of Globecomm’s 2G and 3G wireless platform continues to grow on a monthly basis, in both voice and data traffic. Globecomm maintains a dedicated power system in its Hauppauge, New York-based Network Operations Center in support of these switch platforms, where engineers and technicians provide 24/7 network monitoring and customer support.
