WORK Microwave will celebrate its 25th anniversary in the satellite communications industry by introducing several new product-line enhancements at Satellite 2011, March 15 -17, in Washington, D.C. The technologies on display will include new frequency conversion capabilities for Ka-band support and significant updates to the company’s DVB-S2 product offering. WORK Microwave will introduce a new family of frequency converters that support Ka-Band. As more traditional, lower frequency bands become increasingly congested, satellite service providers require alternatives to overcome bandwidth limitations. This range of indoor and outdoor converters that supports signals up to 31 GHz, is being introduced as demand for greater bandwidth continues to grow. Support for the Ka-Band, with its larger amount of available bandwidth, is becoming more and more attractive to satellite service providers, especially as the industry makes this frequency range more reliable and cost-effective.

WORK Microwave will also be introducing its latest developments for DVB-S2 support. As a member of the DVB Project consortium, WORK Microwave has been contributing to the development and review of worldwide standards in digital video broadcasting for a number of years. The IP-modem platform, first introduced in 2010, is being enhanced in 2011. The improvements include a significant increase in packet rate/transmission speed and greater opportunity for users to set their own preferences, which increases the system’s flexibility and efficiency. The IP-modem platform also includes both adaptive coding modulation (ACM) and generic stream encapsulation (GSE), which combine to enable unparalleled bandwidth efficiency. In addition, the company’s DVB-S2 modulator has also been enhanced to provide better signal quality and performance and now includes switchable IF 70/140 MHz and L-band.
