[SatNews] Teledyne Technologies Incorporated has acquired Paradise Datacom, a leader in high power solid state amplifiers and communication modems, as part of the acquisition of Intelek plc. Paradise Datacom Ltd., founded in 1988 in the United Kingdom, specializes in the design and manufacture of IBS/IDR framing units, which have evolved into a full line of satellite modems. Paradise modems support all major communication formats including Paired Carrier Multiple Access (PCMA), a patented bandwidth saving feature licensed from ViaSat Inc — PCMA is available in all Paradise modem products and has the potential to reduce recurring space segment costs by up to 50 percent.

Paradise Datacom LLC, founded in State College, Pa. in 1997, uses unique microwave circuit designs based on GaAs and GaN technology to deliver reliable, high power solid state amplifiers from S- through Ka-band. By using a proprietary power combining structure, Paradise’s PowerMax Scalable SSPA Systems are modular with built-in redundancy, remote diagnostics, power monitoring, and CW power in excess of 6 kW at C-, X- and Ku-bands, as well as a class leading 1 kW at Ka-band.
