[SatNews] CapRock Communications announced has signed a contract with Yahsat’s wholly owned subsidiary, Star Satellite Communications Company PrJsc, to provide custom voice, video and data communications services to clients in the Middle East and Southwest Asia. CapRock will provide the design, equipment installation and management of a private, custom satellite service built on its CommandAccess™ network, which was launched in December 2009 by the company’s government division.
As part of the managed service remote, remote terminals will be deployed in key areas of operation across the Middle East and Southwest Asia. The network is expected to grow over the course of the two-year contract. CommandAccess is the industry’s first commercial satellite subscription service designed for use in remote areas of operation. The suite of pre-packaged and customized communications services connects very small aperture terminals (VSATs) to the Internet, public switched telephone service, and secure networks. Service is available in several packages and data rates, each for a flat monthly fee on a per terminal basis. CapRock currently has customers using CommandAccess in several regions of the world and across all of its networks, including, Ku-, X-, and C-band satellites.
