MTN Satellite Communications (MTN) has launched MTN Worldwide TV, the industry’s first TV broadcast service delivering programming from six major U.S. and international television networks to cruise ship passengers anywhere on the high seas. With MTN Worldwide TV, passengers are able to enjoy programming from BBC World News, CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC, Sky News and Sky Sports News in their cabins while at sea or in port, with no interruption — additional programming packages, including entertainment and sports channels, are to be added in the near future.
The MTN Worldwide TV service has been thoroughly field tested, and more than 40 ships with a total of over 32,000 cabins are already under contract for the unique broadcast service, according to Brent Horwitz, senior vice president, MTN cruise and ferry business. Leveraging MTN’s global satellite network, MTN Worldwide TV uses three overlapping satellite beams that integrate seamlessly with the cruise ships’ existing TVRO antennas and onboard video distribution systems, making installations quick and easy. MTN operates a private, global maritime satellite network, providing voice, data and video services to cruise ships, super yachts and various other vessels worldwide. As the operator, MTN has complete access control over the network and the content it carries which assures its customers and their passengers receive reliable, quality and uninterrupted service. The MTN Worldwide TV programming is offered in multiple content packages for North American and international cruises. Services also include hardware installation and support to ensure a successful broadcast.
