RESTEC (Japan) announces that Geoimage Pty Ltd has won an ALOS Reseller of the Year Award for the second year in a row.
The awards are presented to the top performing resellers around the globe to honor their commitment and dedication to the promotion and use of ALOS Data. The Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) was developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and successfully launched on January 24, 2006. The mission objectives of ALOS include cartography, regional observation, and disaster monitoring. The satellite has three sensors — two optical imagers (PRISM & AVNIR-2) and an L-band Synthetic Aperture (PALSAR). ALOS has been a popular imagery choice for mining, agriculture and environment sectors, however, the production of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) has generated the largest interest among Geoimage customers. The PRISM sensor can acquire stereo panchromatic data in triplet mode, which aids in the manufacture of DEMs, while the AVNIR-2 sensor acquires multispectral data.
