The Chinese Zhongxing-6B satellite ran into some problems on Monday, February 9th, at 10:59 a.m., Chinese local time.
This satellite malfunction affected the transmission of some 150 SatTV channels, according to the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT). The interruption occurred for 47 minutes and affected 23 provincial satellite TVs as well as China Central Television (CCTV) and China Education Television. Channels came back on line one by one. There was no disruption of programming transmitted via the Xinnuo-3 satellite. No explanation has been given for the satellite’s transmission difficulties, although China DBSat is now investigating the problem.
