Gateway Communications, a provider of African telecommunications services, has signed a deal with HELLAS SAT which will provide an additional 36 Meg of capacity over Southern Africa.
HELLAS SAT, the owner and operator of the Hellas-Sat 2 satellite, located at 39° E, will provide Gateway with Ku-band capacity — this is the first time HELLAS SAT has worked with Gateway, who selected the Hellas-Sat 2 because it offered a powerful beam over southern Africa and due to the satellite’s stability and immediate availability. With a strong beam with a long life-cycle, Gateway expects to be using Hellas-Sat 2 for many years to come. (Image courtesy of Astrium.)
