Spaceflight Confab In New Mexico

Smart people want to share their knowledge — they want to learn from primary sources and have fun while doing it — they come to the International Symposium on Personal and Commercial Spaceflight, or ISPCS. This year, the ISPCS audience will benefit from more in-depth discussions on sub-orbital and orbital vehicles and systems. We asked Bob Dickman to moderate the majority of the Wednesday, October 22nd, discussions devoted to exploring what the designers, regulators, and customers are planning in pursuit of creating commercially successful systems to give mankind access to space. Gary Payton, Deputy Under Secretary, Air Force Space Systems, agreed to discuss how the Department of Defense plans to leverage and capitalize on civil and commercial space capabilities. On Thursday, October 24th, David Baylor, the man who helped put DirecTV on the global map, will talk about the challenges the direct-broadcast industry faced in the early days of skepticism and doubt. The rest of Thursday will look at organizations devoted to creating the second space age — the age of spaceflight for mankind. These organizations will tell you how they are responding to the emerging trends in commercial space. We will close with Spaceport Directors from across the globe who will discuss how they are positioning their spaceports to become economic engines for their communities. There are also arranged tours of NASA White Sands Test Facility, the Orion Capsule facility at White Sands Missile Range and Holloman Air Force base on Friday, October 24th.
