BUSINESS — Agilent has released a new application note entitled “Mobile WiMAX PHY Layer (RF) Operation and Measurement” to assist engineers accelerate time-to-market for their Mobile WiMAX solutions. This 68-page document is for engineers developing and testing components intended for the Mobile WiMAX market and details OFDMA signals and the mechanisms used to make a connection between the base station and mobile station as well as the layout and operation of the base station and mobile station. Also included is a detailed section on test descriptions. - BUSINESS — Newly appointed to the Board of Directors at DigitalGlobe are Judith McHale and Warren Jensen. Ms. McHale recently served as president and chief executive officer of Discovery Communications, Inc., the parent company of cable television’s Discovery Channel. At Discovery Communications, she previously served as president and chief operating officer, as well as executive vice president and general counsel. She currently also serves on the boards for Polo/Ralph Lauren, and Host Hotels and Resorts. Mr. Jensen most recently served as executive vice president, chief financial and administrative officer for Electronic Arts. Previously, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for Amazon.com, and executive vice president and chief financial officer for Delta Air Lines and held several positions with General Electric, Inc., including senior vice president and chief financial officer for NBC, a subsidiary of General Electric.
- BUSINESS — Now under the wing of ELTA S.A.,. thanks to the acquisition process, is SMP S.A.. ELTA is a subsidiary of the AREVA TA Group with partial capitalization by German-based OHB Technology. Headquartered in Toulouse, France, since 1975, this acquisition brings the firm squarely into the component and electronic equipment design and manufacture environs. SMP is involved with European and French space projects as well as ground station segments for France.

BUSINESS — MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract from DigitalGlobe Inc. MDA will upgrade a WorldView ground station solution to enable full support for WorldView-2, DigitalGlobe’s advanced new remote sensing satellite scheduled for launch in 2009. Under this contract, MDA will provide a ground system capable of programming, receiving and processing imagery from WorldView-2, and will integrate and install the information solution at the customer’s site in early 2009.
