- MOVING ON UP — Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ:GILT) has appointed Ari Krashin as Chief Financial Officer of the Company, effective immediately. Mr. Krashin will be replacing Ms. Tal Payne, who, as was previously announced, accepted a position as Chief Financial Officer of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP). Also announced is the appointment of Yaniv Reinhold as Vice President of Financial Planning, Treasury & Administration. Mr. Ari Krashin has been serving as Gilat’s Financial Director since 2005 and has been in the Gilat finance department since 2000. Mr. Yaniv Reinhold has been serving as Gilat’s Associate Vice President of Financial Planning & Treasury since 2005 and he joined Gilat in 1999.
LAUNCH — August 21st is the date established by Measat Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. for the launch of their MEASAT-3a satellite. The craft is manufactured by Orbital Sciences Corporation and will be placed into orbit aboard a Land Launch rocket, with MEASAT-3a to colocate with MEASAT-3 at 91.5° E. The satellite payload will include 12 C- and 12 Ku-band transponders for a coverage footprint of MENA to Australia and Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia.
- BUSINESS — SkyBitz has announced five additional customers are deploying the company’s tracking solutions. More than 550 fleets rely on the cost-effective SkyBitz GLS technology to track their assets. They include Danny Herman Trucking Inc. of Mountain City, Tennessee, FirstExpress of Nashville, Tennessee, Hoffman Transportation based in Channahon, Illinois, Lawrence Transportation Systems based in Roanoke, Virginia, and Palmetto State Transportation, headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina.
