- Agilent Technologies Inc. has introduced two additional modules for its 34980A multifunction switch/measure unit. The modules extend this solution’s high-performance capabilities with even higher switching density and flexible measurements with automatic surge protection. These high-density modules are a cost-effective alternative to PXI and VXI test platforms. The modules are Agilent’s next step in a series of enhancements to the Agilent 34980A multifunction switch/measure unit. They give R&D and manufacturing engineers in the aerospace/defense, consumer electronics, computers and peripherals, communications, semiconductor, and automotive industries the flexibility to route low-frequency signals between stimulus, DUT (device under test) and measurement equipment when designing high pin-count tests.

Round Solutions has introduced a free portal for telemetry applications at www.gauge4free.com. The web server makes it possible to automatically upload and graphically present measurement data, such as data from weather stations.“With our server, yachtsmen, paragliders and wind surfers – just to name a few – can keep up to date on weather conditions,” explains Harald Naumann, technical director of Round Solutions. “Temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind speed and wind direction statistics can be culled from standard digital weather stations using RS-232 interfaces. The information is then transmitted to www.gauge4free.com using our S3 Starter Kit.” The kit is based on the Quad-Band-GSM module, which sends the measurement data to the server using GPRS technology and the HTTP protocol. This module can be configured with Python, a free programming language. After registering, the user has access to graphically illustrated measurement data, which can be viewed using a standard web browser.-
Thales is jumping with activity… the reason is that all is ready for the launch of Jason-2 on June 20th from Vandenburg AFB in California. The Jason-2 satellite, built by Thales Alenia Space, will carry the Poseidon-3 altimeter, which happens to be the key instrument in this observation program. The altimeter is expected to considerably expand our understanding of operational oceanography, as well as the scope of applications addressing this field of study.
