Intelsat Packs Future Capacity For Romantis Intelsat, Ltd. has announced Romantis GmbH (“Romantis”), a European satellite capacity trader providing satellite transmission services for European, African and Asian markets, signed another multi-year, multi-transponder contract for capacity on the Intelsat system to expand its service offering into the CIS, EU and the Middle East. Under the agreement, Romantis will receive Ku-band transponder services on the Intelsat 15 satellite which will be located at 85° E, once launched in 2009—Pembroke, Bermuda- SASSA Targeted By Lockheed MartinLockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] submitted on May 1st its proposal to the U.S. Air Force for the Self-Awareness Space Situational Awareness (SASSA) program directly to the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, California. Under a $30-million contract scheduled to be awarded in late 2008, SASSA will consist of a technology demonstration payload that will provide tactical space situational awareness. Water, Water, Everywhere, + NASA Will Take The Flick The OSTM/Jason 2 mission is set for launch in June and will help scientists better monitor and understand trends in sea-level rise and study ocean circulation and its links to Earth’s climate. The mission is a collaboration between NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the French space agency Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT). As part of this agreement, SkyPort engineers have installed satcom hardware and dishes at a number of National Guard facilities in Washington, D.C. This equipment will connect Guard members to the worldwide communications network in the event of an emergency or loss of land-based net access.
