During the second burn of the Breeze M launch vehicle’s upper stage, something untoward occurred and the AMC-14 satellite failed to reach orbit. After a liftoff at 5:18 a.m. local time on Friday, March 14th, the anomaly is now being investigated by a Russian State Commission to determine why such occurred. International Launch Services (ILS) and Khrunichev made this announcement with regret to all. The AMC-14 satellite was for SES AMERICOM and their customer, EchoStar Corporation. ILS will be initiating their own Failure Review Oversight Board to investigate the mishap and they’ll be involved in reviewing the state commission’s final report and suggested corrective action plan, all in accord with both U.S. and Russian government export control regulations.
