EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Satellite ground infrastructure developer Northwood Space secured $375 million in a Series C funding round at a $2 billion post-money valuation, the company announced on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026.

The financing was co-led by venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and DFJ Growth, with capital earmarked to scale antenna manufacturing and expand the operational footprint of the company’s shared ground station network.
Phased-Array Architecture and Software Orchestration
Headed by Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Bridgit Mendler, Northwood Space pairs flat-panel phased-array antennas with cloud-based scheduling and automated data-routing software. Rather than requiring satellite operators to construct dedicated parabolic dishes, Northwood sells shared ground network capacity across low Earth orbit (LEO), medium Earth orbit (MEO), and geostationary orbit (GEO) assets.
The software stack dynamically coordinates antenna pointing, automated beamforming, and data transport to eliminate ground-side bottlenecks as orbital mega-constellations expand. The approach provides on-demand uplink and downlink capacity for commercial constellation operators and defense customers seeking redundant communication nodes.
Manufacturing Acceleration and Capital Expansion
The Series C round marks a steep valuation milestone for the El Segundo-based startup, coming nine months after Northwood raised a $100 million Series B and secured a $49.8 million contract from the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command to modernize the military’s Satellite Control Network (SCN).
Northwood indicated that inbound demand from commercial and government operators remains balanced and strong, though the company did not disclose the precise revenue split between public-sector and enterprise accounts. The fresh capital will directly fund expanded manufacturing throughput for the company’s proprietary phased-array terminals, known as Portals, while accelerating site acquisitions to extend ground station coverage internationally.
