Of those phones, some 80 percent were exported, but the country lost about 2 percent of their market penetration this year, as well… - FAIRPOINT All that stands in the way of FairPoint Communication‘s acquisition of Verizon Communications‘ properties in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont are approvals from state regulators, and should this deal not come to fruition, analysts believe Fairpoint could face a $55 million loss… the company has listened to all of the public advocacy suggestions and is willing to accept most of the conditions, but the same will probable not be true for Verizon…

According to MarketWatch’Weekend Edition, Google has been in talks with the Federal Communications Commission regarding unlicensed spectrum blocks, known as white space. This would be used for mobile Internet appliances and would enable less expensive connectivity avails…but it’s not just Google at lobbying work here…Intel, Microsoft, Philips Electronics NV and others are members of this coalition and all but Intel are engaged in testing of white spaces, albeit each company is using their own proprietary technology to do so… -

The company released their 2007 Portable Navigation Device Usage and Satisfaction Study and uncovered the fact that some two-thirds of PND owners have experienced some problems with their units… however, 95 percent of those owners indicate their appliances meet or even exceed their expectations. The study was based on 4,013 owners of these devices during September and October of this year, obtaining their responses based on their use of product from such companies as Garmin, Magellan, Mio and TomTom. Certainly advanced functionality of the device can offset some of the problem areas, and brand loyalty is extremely high at 90 percent, with most users stating they would repurchase the same brand… -
