Astrium Agrees, ascos and ISRO On Board

The board of directors of E.ON Ruhrgas AG has decided to transfer the operation and marketing of its ascos satellite reference service to a new provider. The new ascos provider is to be a joint initiative between Astrium Services (Munich) and ALLSAT (Hannover). Additionally, Astrium has also a new working agreement with India’s space agency.

Yes On YES2… It Worked!

One of the projects closely watched by SatNews is the Second Young Engineers’ Satellite (YES2). Aboard a Foton-M3 orbital mission that launched via Soyuz rocket on September 14th from Baikonur, the satellite separated from the spacecraft on September 25th. The tether then deployed for 8.5 km due to a preprogrammed command cutting Fotino loose from the spacecraft itself.

Dawn Is Officially Delayed, But Only For One Day

NASA has decided to delay the launch of the Dawn spacecraft. A United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket’s second stage could not complete the fueling on schedule last Sunday due to inclement weather. The 24-hour delay now places the launch for Thursday, September 27, between 7:20 a.m. and 7:49 a.m. EDT. The spacecraft’s mission is to investigate the asteroid belt.
