During the Futurecom 2026 conference in São Paulo, global connectivity provider floLIVE and non-terrestrial network (NTN) operator Skylo Technologies announced an integrated cellular and satellite IoT connectivity service across Brazil.

Distributed locally through Brazilian telecommunications partners iuh! Digital and NLT Telecom, the hybrid connectivity offering combines floLIVE’s local cellular access and distributed core platform with Skylo’s satellite NTN overlay to eliminate coverage gaps for industrial and enterprise IoT deployments.
Technical Architecture and Single-SIM Fallback Specs
The integrated service utilizes 3GPP Release 17 standards, enabling standard 4G and 5G cellular IoT modems to establish satellite connectivity via software configuration without requiring dedicated satellite terminals or hardware design changes. Key technical specifications include:
- Single-SIM Multi-IMSI Architecture: Enables IoT hardware to operate on local Brazilian cellular networks for cost efficiency and automatically fall back to Skylo’s satellite NTN when traveling beyond terrestrial coverage.
- Protocol Standardization: Operates using native 3GPP Rel-17 narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) waveforms, maintaining standard device battery life profiles and power budgets.
- Management Infrastructure: Managed via floLIVE’s carrier-grade platform and distributed core network, providing unified device orchestration, billing, and real-time session tracking across approximately 214 global regions.
Context and Global NTN Alliances
The Brazilian deployment expands Skylo’s commercial strategy of partnering with global connectivity enablers to integrate satellite backup into terrestrial cellular networks. Skylo has previously executed similar hybrid NTN integrations across international markets, including Vodafone IoT’s global hybrid satellite-cellular service and Blues’ hybrid IoT module with seamless satellite failover.
By embedding NTN capability at the software and core network layer, telecommunications operators can extend network reach without building parallel satellite infrastructure.
Target Use Cases and Regional Market Outlook
The hybrid service addresses connectivity challenges across Brazil’s expansive geography, where agricultural operations, long-haul freight corridors, utility grids, and mining sites frequently extend beyond terrestrial cellular footprints. By offering continuous tracking and telemetry across urban centers and remote rural interiors, floLIVE and Skylo aim to accelerate IoT adoption across South America’s largest enterprise logistics and agribusiness markets.
