On August 1, 2026, custom metal additive manufacturing provider AMCM, a subsidiary of EOS GmbH, officially commissioned its new assembly and integration facility in Weilheim, Germany.

Built to meet surging demand across the defense and space launch sectors, the plant expands production capacity for large-format metal 3D printing systems used in manufacturing monolithic rocket engines, heat exchangers, and complex aerospace propulsion hardware.
Constructed in partnership with the Bauer Group following a July 2024 development agreement, the Weilheim site enables the parallel assembly and testing of multiple industrial-scale laser powder bed fusion platforms.
Monolithic Rocket Hardware and Large-Format Printer Architecture
The expanded assembly floor is specifically configured to build AMCM’s specialized metal additive platforms, including the AMCM M 450, AMCM M 4K, and the flagship AMCM M 8K. Designed for aerospace applications that exceed the physical limits of conventional manufacturing, the AMCM M 8K features a build envelope capable of printing single-piece metallic structures up to 1.6 meters or taller in a single production cycle.
By customizing laser optics, thermal controls, spot sizes, and powder delivery systems on core EOS technology, AMCM enables launch vehicle manufacturers and defense primes to produce integrated thrust chambers, turbopump housings, and regenerative cooling channels without traditional welds or multi-part assemblies.
Specialized Industrial Infrastructure and Operational Expansion
Located near AMCM’s headquarters in Starnberg, the Weilheim plant is equipped with heavy-duty material handling infrastructure, including a 10-metric-ton overhead crane spanning 25 meters and a secondary 5-metric-ton crane. The setup allows technicians to handle heavy build chambers, align high-precision optical laser systems, and complete factory acceptance testing for multiple large-scale printers simultaneously.

The commissioning of the Weilheim plant strengthens Europe’s industrial manufacturing base for high-performance aerospace hardware. By scaling output of the AMCM M 8K and next-generation large-scale printers, AMCM provides space launch providers, missile defense contractors, and energy research organizations with the production machinery required to shorten engine development cycles and increase thrust-to-weight ratios across complex propulsion systems.
