LONDON – July 31, 2026 – Global television and film production company Fremantle announced on July 31, 2026, the creation of a centralized Global Scripted Hub and appointed veteran entertainment executive Katie O’Connell Marsh as its Chief Executive Officer.

Operating from London starting in autumn 2026, O’Connell Marsh will oversee Fremantle’s international scripted portfolio, commercial investment strategies, and global IP distribution across international television and streaming platforms. She will report directly to Andrea Scrosati, Group Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Continental Europe, with a secondary reporting line to Jens Richter, CEO of Commercial and International.
Global Media Consolidation and Downstream Bandwidth Demand
The restructuring of Fremantle’s scripted division reflects broader consolidation across the television and film production ecosystem, directly influencing downstream transmission infrastructure. As media conglomerates centralize content pipelines for global distribution, international syndication increasingly relies on hybrid delivery networks that combine ground teleports, IP backbones, and primary satellite transponders.
Primary broadcast networks and linear distribution platforms utilize geostationary C-band and Ku-band space segment capacity to distribute linear feeds, free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels, and premium scripted drama to global headends. Satellite operators continue to align fleet capacity—such as Intelsat’s direct-to-home Galaxy 19 platform—to ingest and syndicate high-bitrate video streams to regional cable operators and broadcast affiliates worldwide.
Similarly, primary satellite video neighborhoods—such as SES’s geostationary broadcast orbital slots—depend on steady production investments from major production hubs to sustain long-term transponder lease commitments for high-definition and 4K content delivery.
Commercial Rationale and Investment Governance
In her executive role, O’Connell Marsh will manage Fremantle’s annual scripted investment budget, guiding co-production financing and acquiring strategic third-party titles. She will also partner with the Commercial and International division to evaluate market forecasts and maximize international distribution revenues across both linear satellite channels and digital over-the-top platforms.
Prior to joining Fremantle, O’Connell Marsh served as CEO of Platform One Media and Gaumont Television, Vice Chair of Boat Rocker Studios, and held executive positions at NBCUniversal, Imagine Television, and DreamWorks Animation. Most recently, she served as an external advisor to Bain & Company.
Executive Leadership Perspectives
“She is a highly accomplished, passionate and commercially astute executive with a deep understanding of global audiences and market trends,” said Andrea Scrosati, Group Chief Operating Officer and CEO Continental Europe at Fremantle. “Her creative instincts, strategic vision and proven ability to attract and nurture world-class talent will be invaluable as we continue to grow our scripted business and further strengthen Fremantle’s position as a global leader in premium storytelling.”
“As the industry continues to evolve, the greatest opportunities will come from bringing together exceptional talent, international collaboration and a commercially driven approach,” said Katie O’Connell Marsh, incoming CEO of the Global Scripted Hub. “I am especially looking forward to working closely with Jennifer Mullin, Andrea Scrosati and the outstanding teams across the business to build on Fremantle’s success.”
Leadership Transition Timeline
O’Connell Marsh will officially assume her duties at Fremantle’s London headquarters in the autumn of 2026, joining the company’s Global Leadership Team to execute its multi-year content strategy.
