Founded in 1999, Globalsat Group is the first Pan-American consortium of mobile satellite service (MSS) and a leading Latin American provider of satellite voice, data and M2M / IoT services and hardware, with their own offices in the USA, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico as well as distributors in main cities of Latin America with a focus on terrestrial, marine and aerial satellite solutions—and now, the Globalsat Group has obtained license for all Inmarsat services through their Mexican affiliate, MultiSAT.
Distribución y Tecnologías SA de CV, which operates under the MultiSAT brand and is part of Globalsat Group, announced that they have received official authorization and landing rights for foreign satellite signals in the Ka- and L-bands. The Ka-band authorization includes Inmarsat I5 satellites, which deliver the new generation Global Express ("GX") service, both for transmission (Earth to satellite) and reception (satellite to Earth), making it possible to legally provide mobile and fixed Internet or point-to-point maritime, land and aeronautical data connectivity anywhere within Mexican territory
Globalsat Group / Multisat has also been authorized for L-band services. The Inmarsat Fleet Xpress service combines Ka- and L-band services, providing greater robustness and redundancy than any other maritime satellite connectivity solution. The climatic and seismic conditions of Mexico, the extension of the nation's territory, heterogeneous demographic distribution and the magnitude of economic activity in its territorial seas are characteristics that make satellite an ideal solution for a growing number of public and private institutions which require always-on connectivity. Ka- and L-band satellite service can provide the link when or where traditional infrastructure is unavailable or not feasible.
According to Globalsat Group CEO Alberto Palacios, as in other countries, this multi-band licensing places the group in a privileged position to offer the full range of mobile and fixed services that Inmarsat has to offer in L-, Ka- and both bands combined. Enabling access in Mexico to Inmarsat's whole infrastructure allows the firm to have a leading presence in this important market—including M2M / IoT projects, high-quality fixed and mobile VSAT as well as tactical voice and data through highly portable terminals.
