Against the backdrop of the accelerated dynamics of the day-to-day realities of contemporary developments in broadband satellite communications, the GVF-EMP Conference partnership has published the latest version of the program for the GVF Ka- Roundtable Assembly 2012: Satellite Service Provision Game-Changer in Action, which will take place at the Strand Palace Hotel in London on December 5th & 6th.
Supported by such leading satellite industry technology and service providers as O3b Networks, Inmarsat, iDirect, Hughes, Avanti Communications, and Comtech EF Data, the Roundtable Assembly program will make a major contribution to the global discussion of the paradigm leap in the economics of satellite communications. What with new technology roll-out and innovative services provision being built on the ever-increasing commercial availability and usage of the Ka-band frequency range, together with the application of high throughput technologies to other parts of the satellite spectrum.
An expanded line-up of commercial, government, civil society, and other organisations will feature in the dialogue at the event, either in the program of speakers or amongst the wide variety of almost 100 individuals who have registered to attend and engage in extensive opportunities for satellite industry-user markets interaction.
As previously announced, the conference will also be supported by the European Space Agency. A representative of ESA’s Ground Segment Technology Section will set-out the Agency ‘Roadmap’ on the future of developments in Ka-band. In addition, commented Martin Jarrold, one of the Co-Chairs of the Roundtable Assembly, “We are delighted to have the contribution to the program of the United Kingdom telecommunications regulator, OfCom, and look forward to their analysis of regulatory issues pertaining to Ka-band.”
Further examples of representatives of the wide variety of end-user groups, and other interested entities, registered to contribute to the dialogue include: Aerospace & defence industry analysts; the military; broadcasting and news gathering organizations; the oil & gas industry; government, inter-agency, and non-government organizations in development and emergency management; telecoms carriers; telecommunications attorneys; satellite communications analysts; and, university researchers. In addition a wide range of organizations from the Value-Added Reseller market will be in attendance.

The program for the Ka- Roundtable Assembly reflects the fact that higher throughput has become of the utmost strategic importance to the satellite industry, and to a multitude of satellite service users. A range of key subject areas have been identified for inclusion in the Roundtable’s program, illustrating the accelerating dynamics in the response of the global satellite communications industry to demands for frequency spectrum to support the requirement for greatly increased Internet bandwidth from a wide range of end-user communities.
