The NS3000 combines NovelSat’s NS3™ satellite modulation and demodulation technology, together with bi-directional IP routing and traffic compression in a single device, while enabling the simultaneous transfer of data and video over a single channel.
The NS3000 is the latest addition to the NovelSat family of satellite modulations solutions. It incorporates the award winning NS3™ technology, which has been independently tested to show satellite bandwidth efficiency increases, over the highest performing equipment available on the market today, of between 20 and 50 percent on 36MHz and 72MHz transponders respectively, offering the additional advantages of reduced dish size and substantially greater throughput with the same amount of satellite bandwidth. Designed for video, data and VoIP applications, both point-to-point and point-to-multi point links, the NS3000 is completely technology and satellite band type-agnostic, supporting all current modulation methods including: DVB-S, DVB-S2, and DVB-SNG.
For use by DSNG operators, satellite cellular backhaul providers and other data intensive applications such as oil and gas pipelines, military and homeland security, the NS3000 is an integrated IP solution offering routing capabilities, TCP acceleration and compression for IP packet streams. The NS-3000 modem enables VoIP providers and ISPs to tap into a cost-effective and reliable solution to dramatically increase available bandwidth and reduce costs for satellite video transmission, enabling providers to connect more locations and serve more customers without having to purchase additional bandwidth or to deliver connectivity to remote locations lacking in fibre infrastructure.
Of particular relevance for Outside Broadcast (OB) trucks, the new modem can send and receive data and reports while simultaneously transmitting live video streams to their production centre, or utilise the same IP stream for multiple camera transmissions. Broadcasters can also reduce operational costs by enabling technicians to remotely manage OB truck technology. The modem enables journalists and technicians to have ready access to full internet services to file reports or monitor broadcast quality during live sports broadcasts or in remote disaster situations where IP access may be severely restricted. Alternatively, for small DSNGs and airborne units, the improved spectral efficiency offers the same throughput with a 35 percent smaller dish and smaller High-Powered Amplifiers (HPAs), reducing transmission power by 30 to 50 percent, while minimising transmission overhead and optimising in-vehicle space.
