MITEQ… My, My… Lots Of New Goodies

February 28, 2011

[SatNews] Perpetual motion best describes this industry with new offerings always in the works.

And so it is with word coming about new products from MCL, Inc., a MITEQ Company.

MCL Offers Airborne HPA
MCL introduces its newest member of the outdoor TWTA family, the MT2100 (See right). Providing industry-leading efficiency, this amplifier was engineered to support airborne applications. The rugged ultra compact design weighs 25 pounds and can be adapted to military flight qualification requirements. This model operates at 125 Watts (100 Watts at the flange) at the 6-18 GHz frequency range. The MT2100 features flexible prime power configurations and can operate at 70°C. This compact TWTA is conduction cooled; however, air cooled or liquid cooled operations are available.

New DBS-Band Upconverter Gives Precise 1 KHz Channel Resolution
MITEQ Inc. introduces DBS-band, 17.3 to 18.4 GHz, Upconverter (See left) with 1 KHz step size to expand MITEQ’s 9900 series converters. The new U-9957-2-1K DBS-band Upconverter complements the 9900 series of C- and Ku-band of Up- and Downconverters meeting the same stringent performance and quality as provided in its sister products. An IF frequency of 70 MHz or optional 140 MHz is double converted to the DBS-band using a precision MITEQ frequency synthesizer and DRO resulting in an excellent phase noise performance well below the INTELSAT IESS-308/309 requirements. The DBS-band converter provides a complete suite of control and monitoring functions and options covering RS485/RS422 and RS232 interfaces plus 10/100 Base-T Ethernet. The unit is housed in a 1U, 19” rack package and operates on 90 to 250 VAC.

Ultimate Performance and Space Savings… only with MITEQ’s 1/3 Rack Up- and Downconverters!
MITEQ’s unique 1/3 Rack (See right), 1U high converters are now available in L-, S-, C-, X-, Ku- and Ka-bands. These up and downconverters offer excellent phase noise and low intermodulation, Gain: 30 dB upconverters / 35 dB downconverters and 30 dB of gain control. Available with a host of options these patented space saving units are easily configured to create redundancy systems in 1RU height.

Combined with MITEQ’s additional 1/3 Rack products: Test Translators, Slope Equalizers, Redundant Switchover Units, Amplifiers, Block Converters, Fiber Optic Transmitters and Receivers, and now you can configure your entire up- and downlink chain, including the Fiber Optic RF antenna interface in 1/3 the Rack space.

MCL Offers Energy Efficient Options for Outdoor TWTAs
MCL’s MT3400 and MT4400 Outdoor TWT Amplifiers (See left) have already been described as reliable, rugged, and economical solutions for satellite uplink applications. You can now add “energy efficient” to that list. The MT3400 is available with a 400W linear TWT, drawing 1100 Watts as opposed to 1500 Watts, while the MT4400 offers a 750W linear TWT, drawing 2000 Watts versus 2400 Watts. These new TWT options are only offered in Ku-band at this time.

Both of these state-of-the-art amplifiers are available for C-, X-, Ku-, and DBS-band applications and include such features as rugged construction for extreme environments, software communications configuration for both remote and computer interfaces, continuous attenuator adjustment shown in dB, auto power control and status, and much more.

The MT3400 and MT4400 can also be customized to include options such as an internal L-band block upconverter, an internal linearizer, Ethernet interface, option at 60°C, or a hand-held or remote controller. Redundancy can be achieved through 1:1, 1:2, or phase combined systems.
